We’re delighted to welcome Dr Maike Stentenbach to Biotome as a Postdoctoral Scientist, joining the team in January 2026. Maike brings a strong foundation in molecular biology and mitochondrial research, with experience spanning cardiovascular disease, cancer biology, and respiratory disorders.
She completed her PhD in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Western Australia in November 2023, where her research focused on mitochondrial dysfunction in disease. More recently, she held an Adjunct Research Fellow role at UWA Medical School’s Centre for Respiratory Health, working on conditions including COPD and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Along the way, Maike has built an impressive research track record, with 11 peer-reviewed publications.

At Biotome, Maike will work across two key programs:
Preeclampsia diagnostics — developing a peptide-based blood test designed to detect specific antibody signatures associated with increased pregnancy risk, aiming for earlier and more reliable prediction.
Multiplex microsphere immunoassays — advancing our bead-based platform that enables simultaneous measurement of multiple disease-relevant markers from a single, low-volume sample.
For Maike, the move to Biotome reflects a deliberate shift toward translational research.
“I was drawn to the opportunity to work on research that helps patients sooner,” she says. “The team at Biotome focuses on both the science and the impact. It's a very positive environment.”
“We’re thrilled to have Maike join the team,” says Samuel Lundin, CEO. “Her scientific depth, combined with hands-on experience, makes her a fantastic addition as we scale our diagnostics programs.”
Outside the lab, Maike enjoys horse riding, running, and volunteering with animal rescue organisations. She also has a twin sister and a long-standing love of Milchreis with cherries, a classic German rice pudding.
Welcome to Biotome, Maike. We’re excited to have you on board!
